Multan Sultans Honor RawalPindiz Captain With a Special Jersey Ahead of PSL 11 Clash

Multan Sultans owner Gohar Shah presented a special jersey to Muhammad Rizwan ahead of the team’s Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) clash against RawalPindiz.

The gesture carried added significance because Muhammad Rizwan was not just a former player for Multan Sultans, but also their captain and one of the central figures in the team’s rise in the Pakistan Super League. He led the side to a PSL title and remained one of the franchise’s most prominent faces during his time with the team.

Rizwan’s departure from Multan did not come through a routine transfer. It followed the ownership dispute that cast uncertainty over the franchise’s future ahead of PSL 11.

During that period, the original Multan Sultans setup underwent major changes after a special team auction, where new owner Walee acquired the franchise, shifted it to Rawalpindi, and rebranded it as RawalPindiz.

On the other side, the current Multan Sultans under Gohar Shah have their own unusual backstory. The team was originally set to enter PSL 11 as Sialkot Stallionz, but after the original owners ran into financial trouble, Gohar Shah acquired a 99 percent stake and changed the team’s identity to Multan Sultans before the season began.

As a result, the latest fixture between Multan Sultans and RawalPindiz, in a way, is a meeting between the new Multan Sultans and the old Multan Sultans.

As for the match, RawalPindiz would hope for Muhammad Rizwan to help the side get their first victory of the PSL 11 against the unstoppable Multan Sultans.
