Every spring, the British royal family gathers at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle to observe the holiday of Easter, an event eagerly anticipated by fans of the monarchy. While Kate Middleton does not attend the celebration every year, her advent is always sure to stir excitement—as much for her charming demeanor as for what she chooses to wear.
Over the years, for various and sundry reasons, Prince William and Kate Middleton have sometimes missed the family celebration, and Buckingham Palace has yet to confirm if the couple, as well as children Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, will attend this year’s services.
But as others are expected to skip, many are expecting William and Kate to return as an expression of familial solidarity. Those absent will include Beatrice and Eugenie of York, who politely declined the Easter invitation of their uncle, King Charles III, in the wake of the arrest of their father, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor. (Formerly known as Prince Andrew, Andrew Mountbatten Windsor has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.) Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, returned to the royal family’s Easter celebrations beginning in 2024, but will also celebrate elsewhere this year.
Looking back at Princess Cate’s Easter appearances, one sees her fondness for blue, which she has donned in a variety of shades. It’s a color that lends itself to spring, as well as to the festive day. Her outfit is frequently topped with a classic coat, complemented by a playful hat. While we wait to see if the Princess of Wales will join the royal family for Easter 2026, let’s review the looks she’s chosen in the past.
Easter 2014 in baby blue
In April 2014, three years after she married Prince William, Kate Middleton spent Easter with her husband on a royal tour through Australia. While at an Easter celebration at Sydney’s St. Andrew’s Cathedral, the princess chose an elegant knee-length coat by Alexander McQueen, with clean and essential lines. Unmissable was her Jane Taylor hat, as well as her ice-colored pumps. It was a look that Kate enjoyed so much, she recycled it a few years later.

Easter 2017 in ivory
In 2017, we got our first look at the couple at St. George’s Chapel, where they celebrated the holiday with the rest of the royal family. That year, Kate opted for an ivory look, including a coat by Catherine Walker, one of her favorite labels in those years. Topping it all off was a square-shaped pillbox hat in perfect Jacqueline Kennedy style, and nude pumps by the Rupert Sanderson label.
