“Bob’s Burgers” voice actor and comedian Eugene Mirman is speaking out after being rescued from a fiery car wreck in New Hampshire earlier this week.
Mirman, who voices middle child Gene on the animated series, suffered serious injuries Tuesday when his 2026 Lucid Gravity struck the Bedford Toll Plaza just before noon, sparking a fire and leaving him trapped inside the vehicle, according to officials.
He was pulled through a window of the wreckage by a state trooper and two members of New Hampshire Gov. Kelly Ayotte’s security detail, who came upon the crash moments later, New Hampshire State Police said.
Ayotte and other bystanders also assisted in the rescue. The governor was not injured, according to officials.
The 51-year-old actor was taken to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.
On Friday, Mirman addressed the crash on social media, thanking his rescuers and well-wishers while infusing a touch of humor.
“Thank you so much for all the well wishes, love and kind messages from friends and strangers,” Mirman wrote in an Instagram post. “I am extraordinarily thankful to the heroic people that pulled me from the car and to the warm, kind and talented staff at the hospital that cared for me and got me on the mend! I am thankful beyond words to be here and doing relatively alright, all things considered.
“I don’t have my phone, so haven’t been online much. I do not recommend my method of decreasing screen-time. If you’re a friend who sent a kind, loving message, you should know that it was hard to not respond with, ‘I’d love to be on your podcast.’ I love you all and please take care of yourselves.”
Officials said no charges have been filed, but the single-car crash remains under investigation. Police are asking anyone with information to contact Trooper Nathan Belanger at [email protected].
Mirman, born Yevgeny Mirman, emigrated from Russia and grew up in Massachusetts. In addition to his role as Gene Belcher, he has appeared in “Flight of the Conchords,” “Archer,” and “Delocated.”
