Kieran Trippier has announced he will leave Newcastle at the conclusion of this season following the expiration of his contract.
The England defender’s exit marks the end of a remarkable four-and-a-half-year tenure on Tyneside that fundamentally altered the club’s trajectory.
Trippier made the move from Atletico Madrid in January 2022, arriving at a time when the Magpies found themselves battling against relegation from the top flight.
The right-back swiftly established himself as a pivotal presence both on the pitch and within the dressing room, helping to orchestrate an extraordinary revival in the club’s fortunes during his time in the North East.
Under his influence, Newcastle secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League on two occasions across the past three campaigns, a feat that seemed unthinkable upon his arrival.
The crowning moment of Trippier’s spell came at Wembley, where he featured for the entire match as the Magpies defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the 2025 Carabao Cup Final.
That triumph brought an end to a seven-decade wait for domestic silverware, with Trippier raising the trophy alongside captain Bruno Guimaraes.
