The KADOKAWAanime YouTube channel has released the opening animation for TV anime A Hundred Scenes of AWAJIMA, which begins airing on April 9 at 25:45 JST (effectively April 10 at 01:45 JST).
The opening sequence, which has a notable use of flower imagery and shies from depicting character faces in full, is accompanied by HanaHope‘s “blue hour.”
A Hundred Scenes of AWAJIMA (Awajima Hyakkei/Scenes from Awajima) is based on the Ohta Publishing-published omnibus manga by Takako Shimura. Crunchyroll describes the synopsis as such:
Awajima Revue School, where countless girls from across the country flock in hopes of one day performing on the grand stage. While working toward achieving their dreams of stardom, the students find their time at Awajima is filled with as much friendship and admiration as competition and jealousy. The precious feelings of girls—classmates and rivals at the same time—are tenderly captured in the portraits of this ensemble cast!
Morio Asaka (Cardcaptor Sakura, Chihayafuru, Loving Yamada at Lv999!) is directing the show at Madhouse with Kunihiko Hamada (Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card, Loving Yamada at Lv999!) as character designer and Yasuhiro Nakanishi (Kaguya-sama: Love is War) as series composer. Nina Nakabayashi, Yo Taichi, and Ai Kayano are among the cast.
The Scenes from Awajima manga, an Award for Excellence recipient in the manga category of the 19th Japan Media Arts Festival, began in June 2011 and ended in March 2024. It was first serialized in the now-defunct Pocopoco before moving to Ohta Web Comic.
