Quetta Gladiators Spin Wizard Reveals Strategy to Trouble Teams in PSL 11

Quetta Gladiators spinner Abrar Ahmed has outlined his game plan for the ongoing 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11), stressing that disciplined execution and spin partnerships will be key to unsettling opposition batting line-ups.

Speaking to the media at the LCCA Ground in Lahore, the mystery spinner highlighted his focus on consistency and teamwork, particularly his coordination with fellow spinner Usman Tariq.

Abrar explained that building pressure through tight spells from both ends can significantly shift momentum in Quetta’s favor. He believes that if the spin duo can collectively deliver controlled overs while sticking to pre-planned strategies, it becomes increasingly difficult for batters to score freely.

“Our aim is to bowl according to our plans and maintain pressure. If we can execute eight overs like that, it creates serious problems for the opposition,” he said.

The 27-year-old further revealed that his approach revolves around limiting scoring opportunities and forcing batters into uncomfortable positions. By cutting off attacking options, he aims to increase the likelihood of mistakes and breakthroughs.

Abrar also expressed confidence in Quetta Gladiators’ overall squad balance this season, stating that the team has strength across all departments, including spin, pace, and batting. He remained optimistic about their chances, saying the side is capable of making a deep run and potentially lifting the title.

He also pointed out that the addition of new teams in the PSL has made the competition tougher, while simultaneously creating opportunities for emerging players to showcase their talent.

Discussing playing conditions, Abrar noted that matches being held at limited venues could eventually favor bowlers, especially spinners. According to him, repeated use of pitches tends to bring spinners more into the game as tournaments progress.

On a lighter note, Abrar shared that he prefers to stick with his traditional celebration style on the field rather than introducing anything new.

Looking ahead, the spinner also touched on his personal development goals, revealing that he is working on improving his batting with an eye on longer formats.

However, he admitted that for now, a brief 10-minute batting session is sufficient as he continues to prioritize his bowling craft while gradually preparing for ODIs and Test cricket.
