The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has handed down disciplinary action against Fakhar Zaman, suspending the Lahore Qalandars batter for two matches in the ongoing 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11) after he was found guilty of a Level 3 breach of the Code of Conduct.
According to an official statement, the incident took place during the clash between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings at Gaddafi Stadium on March 29. The breach occurred in the closing stages of the match, when on-field officials imposed a five-run penalty on Lahore Qalandars and ordered a change of the ball ahead of the final over of Karachi Kings’ innings.
The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Shahid Saikat and Faisal Khan Aafreedi, along with TV umpire Asif Yaqoob and fourth umpire Tariq Rasheed. Fakhar Zaman, however, denied the allegations and contested the charge during a formal disciplinary hearing.
The hearing was conducted by match referee Roshan Mahanama, who reviewed all available evidence and provided Fakhar with an opportunity to present his case. Representatives from Lahore Qalandars, including captain Shaheen Shah Afridi, team director Sameen Rana, and team manager Farooq Anwar, were also present during the proceedings.
Following the review, the match referee concluded that Fakhar had committed a Level 3 offence under Article 2.14 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which relates to altering the condition of the ball in violation of playing conditions.
Under the rules, a first-time Level 3 offence carries a minimum penalty of a one-match suspension and can extend up to two matches. Fakhar has been suspended for the next two fixtures, meaning he will miss Lahore Qalandars’ upcoming matches against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United.
The decision can be appealed within 48 hours to the PSL Technical Committee.
