Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen is based on the manga by Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan’s Hiroshi Shibashi. One of the core characters is Kodo Iwamoto, who attends a middle school under the army’s control during the early 20th century and is ordered to investigate supernatural phenomena around the country. One day, Kodo comes across a boy with a special power, to whom he offers a recommendation letter to join his school.
The manga began serialization in Shueisha’s Ultra Jump seinen magazine in 2021 and has 13 volumes as of January, 2026. Iwamoto-senpai no Suisen was originally a one-shot.
