Rascal Does Not Dream of A Dear Friend Reveals Teaser Trailer, October 16 Release

The Rascal Does Not Dream of A Dear Friend anime film now has a teaser trailer and an October 16 (JST) Japanese release date. It previously received a teaser visual and fall 2026 release window last December.

Character visuals for Sakuta Azusagawa and Mai Sakurajima were also revealed.

Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend (Seishun Butayaro wa Dear Friend no Yume o Minai)) is the latest movie in the Rascal Does Not Dream anime series. It shares its title with the original light novel series’ 15th and final main volume, Yen Press describes as such:

As the truth about Miori and Touko Kirishima comes to light, Sakuta must make a choice that will decide everything…for him…for Mai…for Shouko…for Miori…and for Touko. Only one thing’s for sure—whatever happens, this will be his final bout of Adolescence Syndrome!

The Rascal Does Not Dream light novel series comes from The Pet Girl of Sakurasou duo of Hajime Kamoshida (writer) and Keji Mizoguchi (illustrator). Its general premise sees protagonist Sakuta getting involved with people with supernatural problems, beginning with his high school senior Mai Sakurajima and her invisibility issue. The books are published under KADOKAWA’s Dengeki Bunko label/imprint.

The light novel’s first volume, Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, was published in 2014. The latest volume is a short story collection released in July 2025. The anime began in 2018 with a TV series (also titled Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai) and was followed by a 2019 movie, two 2023 films, and the Summer 2025 anime season’s Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus
