The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes has emerged from the shadows once more to reveal a teaser visual, a second teaser trailer, and a 2027 Japanese theatrical release.
The upcoming anime film will see Cid Kagenou and Beta being transported to a Japan devastated by Magical Beasts, with Cid meets his former classmate Akane again.

The Eminence in Shadow is based on the KADOKAWA-published isekai light novel series written by Daisuke Aizawa and illustrated by Azunishi. Yen Press describes the light novels’ synopsis as such:
Even in his past life, Cid’s dream wasn’t to become a protagonist or a final boss. He’d rather lie low as a minor character until it’s prime time to reveal he’s a mastermind…or at least, do the next best thing-pretend to be one! And now that he’s been reborn into another world, he’s ready to set the perfect conditions to live out his dreams to the fullest. Armed with his overactive imagination, Cid jokingly recruits members to his organization and makes up a whole backstory about an evil cult that they need to take down. Well, as luck would have it, these imaginary adversaries turn out to be the real deal-and everyone knows the truth but him!
The anime started with a 20-episode first season that premiered in October 2022. A second season began airing in October 2023. The movie was announced in December 2023.
The Eminence in Shadow light novels began in 2018 and has six volumes as of October 2023. Volume 7 is set to drop on April 1, 2026 (JST). The series has inspired a manga adaptation and spin-offs.
The Eminence in Shadow characters joined the cast of the crossover title Isekai Quartet in the latter’s third season.
