A new trailer has been released for the upcoming From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman Ⅱ TV anime series during NBC Universal Japan’s AnimeJapan 2026 stage event. The second season is scheduled to begin broadcasting in Japan in July 2026 and will exclusively stream on Prime Video in several countries and territories.
Akio Kazumi (Fist of the Blue Sky Re: Genesis) is directing the second season, returning alongside Kunihiko Okada (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy) as series composer, and Satsuki Hayasaka (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy co-character designer) as character designer and chief animation director. YAMATOWORKS is credited with the 3D production on the series. Passione and Hayabusa Film are in charge of the animation production.

The first season of From Old Country Bumpkin to Master Swordsman premiered on April 6, 2025 and released 12 total episodes.
The fantasy light novel series is written by Shigeru Sagazaki and illustrated by Tetsuhiro Nabeshima. It was first published by Square Enix’s SQUEX Novel label on April 7, 2021, with 10 volumes being released in Japan as of December 2025. The series began as a Shosetsuka ni Naro web novel on November 17, 2020. J-Novel Club licensed the light novels for English digital release.
A manga adaptation by Kazuki Sato was launched in Akita Shoten’s web magazine Dokodemo Young Champion on August 24, 2021. Eight tankobon volumes have been released in Japan as of December 2025. Yen Press releases the manga in English for North America. WEBTOON released its own version of the manga in May 2025.
Two manga spinoff series were also released in November 2024 and February 2025.
