One person airlifted to Adelaide after wild brawl breaks out in Whyalla pub pokies room

A Whyalla bar fight has turned so violent that one person had to be airlifted to Adelaide after allegedly being glassed in the face.

Shocking video footage allegedly shows men wrestling on the floor of the Eyre Hotel’s pokies room last weekend before the altercation escalates into an all-out melee.

The disturbing vision allegedly shows fists flying as an employee wearing an apron attempts to intervene, only to be struck themselves.

Pub patrons playing the pokies were caught up in the violent clash that spread throughout the venue.

At one point, a head can be seen hitting the ground.

Staff can be heard repeatedly shouting at the group to leave the premises, with the brawlers eventually complying.

What the video did not show is a person being glassed in the face. Their injuries were so serious they were airlifted to Adelaide for treatment.

Police have arrested two people over last weekend’s incident – a 19-year-old from Whyalla and a 31-year-old from Port Augusta. Both have been charged with affray.

Both arrested men have been granted police bail but barred from the pub.

The violent scenes have left locals shaken.

“I think it’s disgusting,” one local said.

“I actually heard the video before I seen it. Like I heard someone else listening to it and they’re like saying stop.”
