The shooting happened just before 4 p.m. at a residence on Pawtucket Boulevard, according to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office.

Early information suggests the shooting followed a brief altercation between two men who knew each other from the building, according to officials.

Both men were allegedly armed during the confrontation, according to the DA’s office.

One of the men suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, officials said.
