India Today reporters conducted a comprehensive ground reality check across multiple Indian cities to assess fuel and LPG availability amid claims of shortage. In Kolkata, petrol and diesel availability were found to be normal, but auto rickshaws running on LPG are facing problems. Hyderabad saw long queues at petrol pumps early in the week, but by Friday, the queues had disappeared. In the national capital, some gas agencies like one in Jahangirpuri saw long lines for LPG booking. Tamil Nadu’s government issued notices to petrol pumps banning petrol sales in containers to prevent panic buying. In Bengaluru, fuel stations reported no panic buying with ample fuel stock available. The ground report suggests that barring panic at some locations, petrol pumps are running normally across the country. The government continues to maintain there is no LPG shortage.
