Fairy Princess Minky Momo OVA Reveals Teaser Visual, Staff

A teaser visual for the upcoming Fairy Princess Minky Momo OVA, titled Fairy Princess Minky Momo: Akogare no Yume e Magokoro no Duo, has been released. It was also announced that the OVA will screen theatrically in Japan.

The original Fairy Princess Minky Momo (Maho no Princess Minky Momo) TV anime premiered in 1982 and ran for 63 episodes. It had Kunihiko Yuyama (The Strongest King Encyclopedia ~The Ultimate Tournament~ and To Be a Pokémon Master: Ultimate Journeys: The SeriesPokémon: The First Movie director) as chief director and Takeshi Shudo (Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution and Pokémon: The First Movie scriptwriter) as series composer, and was produced at Ashi Productions. Crunchyroll describes the synopsis as such:

As humans lose sight of their dreams, Fenarinarsa, the land of dreams in the sky, is in danger of drifting away from Earth. In hopes of saving their land, the king and queen of Fenarinarsa send their daughter, Momo, to Earth to revive the dreams of mankind. With her transformative powers and loyal companions, the magical girl embarks on a quest to spread joy.

After the first TV anime, there was a TV series titled Maho no Princess Minky Momo Yume o Dakishimete that started airing in 1991, as well as a few OVAs: 1985’s Maho no Princess Minky Momo Yume no Naka no Rinbu, 1993’s Minky Momo in Yume ni Kakeru Hashi, and 1994’s Minky Momo in Tabidachi no Eki.

Minky Momo revival was announced in 2009. Shudo passed away the following year.
