A Cape Cod man is facing a battery charge after he allegedly stabbed his friend during a fight at a bachelor party in Miami Beach.

Olajuwon Shawn Dickerson, 32, of Marston Mills, was arrested March 15 just before 3 a.m. and charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm, according to NBC10 Boston. During an initial court appearance in Florida, he was ordered held without bond.

When officers responded to 1200 Ocean Drive in Miami Beach on the day they arrested Dickerson, they found him bleeding profusely from his left arm. They also found Brian Gordon, the alleged victim, with a stab wound to his left abdomen, NBC10 reported.

Witnesses told police that Dickerson and Gordon were friends who were sharing an Airbnb with two other people in Miami Gardens for a bachelor party in Miami Beach, according to NBC10. When the two men met several women in bars on Ocean Drive, Gordon allegedly became agitated that they were only paying attention to Dickerson, according to officials.

The two men later argued about the women going with them in their SUV, and the situation escalated when Dickerson approached Gordon, who was in the driver’s seat, NBC10 reported. When they separated, Dickerson’s left arm was bleeding, and Gordon was bleeding from his abdomen, according to officials.

One witness said that as he and other witnesses attempted to help Dickerson and stop the bleeding, he handed him a folding knife covered in blood, according to NBC10. When police arrived, they took the knife, and both Dickerson and Gordon were taken to the hospital, according to officials.

Gordon later told police that Dickerson was telling him to get out of the car, but he refused because he had paid for the vehicle, NBC10 reported. He also said that he knew that Dickerson was carrying a knife and that he began to defend himself when he realized he had been stabbed.

Dickerson told law enforcement that he remembered leaving a bar with Gordon and a friend but had no recollection of anything that happened afterward, according to NBC10. He denied having an argument with Gordon and allegedly told police he never had a knife, according to officials.

However, police said that both men’s injuries matched the knife that allegedly belonged to Dickerson. Gordon was later cleared and released from the hospital, while Dickerson remained in treatment, according to officials.

If Dickerson makes bond, he must avoid any contact, in-person or otherwise, with Gordon. Dickerson’s attorney information was not immediately available.
