A second trailer for the Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart TV anime has been released. A Fall 2026 anime season broadcast premiere window was also revealed.
Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart is the follow-up to 2016’s dark magical girl anime Magical Girl Raising Project. Like its predecessor, it’s based on the light novel series written by Magical Girl Raising Project: Restart shares its subtitle with the light novel series’ second and third volumes (which serve as a two-part read), and Yen Press describes the first of the pair as such:
The hit social network game “The Magical Girl Raising Project” selects one out of every tens of thousands of players to become a real life magical girl. The lucky chosen girls gain magic powers as well as incredibly good fortune, and spend their days blissfully. But one day, an absolute announcement declares that the number of magical girls has risen too high and must be cut down to half. Sixteen young maidens are thrust into a merciless, deadly contest to survive…but how many will come out the other side?
The Magical Girl Raising Project: light novel series, which is published under TAKARAJIMASHA’s Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! bunko label, started in 2012 and has 18 volumes as of November 2023. It has also inspired some manga.
