Adelaide Airport named best in the region for staff and service in global awards win

Adelaide Airport has taken out two major honours at the prestigious Skytrax World Airport Awards announced in London overnight.

In a first for Adelaide, the airport was crowned Best Airport Staff in Australia & Pacific, alongside Best Regional Airport in Australia & Pacific, marking the fourth time in five years it has secured the regional title.

The staff award is a very exciting milestone, recognising the people behind the scenes who shape the passenger experience, from customer service teams and volunteer ambassadors to airline staff, cleaners, security and retail workers.

“The Best Airport Staff award is particularly meaningful to us. Our vision is to be everyone’s favourite airport – seamless, connected, easy – and everyone who works at the airport plays a big part in bringing that to reality. Our team has put a lot of effort into our ‘Make Someone’s Day’ program that has converted to customers’ experiences,” said Managing Director Brenton Cox.

The win places Adelaide alongside leading regional airports across the globe, including Paris Orly, Cincinnati and Bangalore, highlighting the city’s growing reputation on the international stage.

It comes during a record-breaking period for the airport, with passenger numbers hitting nine million in 2025 for the first time. International travel has been a major driver, with more than 20 per cent growth over the past year.

Adelaide has also expanded its global reach, welcoming new routes including United Airlines flights to San Francisco, Qantas services to Auckland, Air New Zealand to Christchurch and Indonesia AirAsia to Bali. More growth is on the horizon, with China Eastern set to launch flights to Shanghai, further strengthening the airport’s international network.

Behind the scenes, a major $600 million infrastructure upgrade is already underway. Known as Project Flight, the development will deliver expanded check-in areas, additional gates and upgraded security systems, all designed to streamline the passenger journey.

The Skytrax awards are based on feedback from travellers across more than 100 nationalities, assessing everything from check-in and security to shopping and boarding.
