Adelaide is in for a bit of everything for the rest of this week, with midweek cloud and the odd shower giving way to clear skies and a warm, sunny run into the weekend.
Today will start on the greyer side, with cloudy conditions and a slight chance of showers through the morning and afternoon. Southeasterly winds will pick up during the day, reaching around 15 to 25 km/h, while temperatures stay mild with a top of 26 degrees.
Tomorrow, things begin to ease, with the skies clearing to become partly cloudy, and while southeasterly winds will stick around, conditions will feel a touch more comfortable. Expect a cooler start at around 17 degrees before climbing to a pleasant 28 degrees.
Friday brings a welcome shift, with mostly sunny skies returning to the city. Light winds will turn west to southwesterly during the morning, and temperatures will settle around 26 degrees after an overnight low of 16 degrees.
Saturday and Sunday are both shaping up to be mostly sunny skies and comfortable warmth. Saturday will reach around 27 degrees with light afternoon winds, while Sunday nudges a little higher to 29 degrees under clear, sunny conditions.
That warm run continues into early next week, with Monday forecast to hit 30 degrees under blue skies and light winds.
There’s a slight hint of change on Tuesday, with mostly sunny conditions expected but a small chance of a passing shower as winds shift from the southeast to the southwest.
While Adelaide’s outlook remains relatively settled, it’s a different story further north. Parts of South Australia’s northeast are bracing for heavy rainfall and possible thunderstorms as a low pressure system moves through, bringing cooler conditions and the risk of significant rainfall totals.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, cumulative rainfall in the North East Pastoral district could reach up to 60mm by the weekend, with isolated falls potentially much higher. That raises concerns around flash flooding, particularly in already saturated areas.
Flood warnings remain in place, with river level rises continuing along the Warburton River at Poothapootha and further increases expected along the lower Cooper Creek near Innamincka.
Happy Wednesday!
