Mohammad Hafeez Backs Mystery Spinner After PSL 11 Snub

Former Pakistan captain Mohammad Hafeez advised left-arm spinner Ali Usman to focus on bigger goals rather than lucrative opportunities after the bowler expressed disappointment over being overlooked for the 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL 11).

Ali Usman, one of the most consistent performers in Pakistan’s domestic season, went unsold for the 11th edition of the PSL, scheduled from March 26 to May 3.

The 32-year-old had an outstanding campaign, taking 101 wickets across three tournaments and playing a key role in helping his department set a world record.

Sharing his frustration on X (formerly Twitter), Ali questioned what more he needed to do to earn a place in the league.

“I was the best bowler of the PCB Domestic Season 2025–26, taking 101 wickets across three tournaments and helping my department create a world record. I was also the best bowler of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2021,” he wrote.

“Despite these performances, I’m still waiting for an opportunity in the PSL. I just want to know what more I need to do to be considered. I’m ready to do whatever it takes,” he added.

Responding to the post, Mohammad Hafeez praised Ali’s domestic performances and acknowledged his talent as a left-arm spinner.

“Dear Ali, [you are] a very good left-arm spinner. I’m one of the admirers of [your] good performances at domestic level,” Hafeez said.
