Running for me is not only about finishing a marathon. It is about giving back to the community and helping others see the world more clearly.
I am running to support people with visual impairments so they can regain their sight and live their daily lives with confidence and independence.
This cause is very personal to me. I am living with pterygium in both of my eyes, a condition that can affect vision. I have already undergone surgery in one eye, and the second surgery will take place after the Boston Marathon.
I am fortunate that my workplace supports me and covers the cost of my surgery. But, it makes me think about many others out there who need the same treatment yet cannot afford it. Eye surgery can be expensive, and for many people it is simply out of reach.
That is why I run.
Every step I take is a reminder that small actions can make a difference. Through running, I hope to raise awareness and inspire support for people who need access to eye care and vision-restoring treatment.
Running has taught me resilience, gratitude, and compassion. Crossing the finish line is meaningful, but what matters more is the impact we create along the way.
If my miles can help even one person regain their sight and return to their daily activities with hope, then every step is worth it.
Because running, for me, is not just about going forward — it is about helping others see their way forward, too.
