Adelaide is set for a warm and sunny weekend, with temperatures climbing into the low 30s before a cooler change brings showers early next week.
Todaym the city will see mostly sunny skies and a top of 25 degrees, with only a slight chance of rain. Southeasterly winds of 20 to 30 km/h will continue through the day. The UV Index is forecast to reach 9, rated Very High, with sun protection recommended between 9:50am and 4:50pm. Fire danger remains high in the Mount Lofty Ranges, while the Adelaide metropolitan area currently has no rating.
Conditions will warm up on Saturday, with sunny skies and a maximum of 29 degrees following a morning low of 15 degrees. Light winds will shift from easterly during the morning to west to southwesterly during the afternoon before turning back to the southeast later in the day.
Sunday will be the warmest day, reaching 32 degrees under mostly sunny skies after a minimum of 17 degrees. Winds will start easterly before turning northwest to southwesterly during the day and then south to southeasterly later in the afternoon.
A change arrives on Monday, bringing showers and cooler conditions to the city. Temperatures are forecast to range from 18 degrees overnight to a maximum of 25 degrees, with rainfall likely at times across the day.
Conditions are expected to ease again from Tuesday, with partly cloudy skies and a top of 27 degrees. Temperatures will climb slightly through the middle of next week, reaching 29 degrees on Wednesday and again on Thursday under partly cloudy to sunny conditions.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the current weather pattern is being driven by a ridge of high pressure extending from a system south of Perth across waters well south of South Australia. The high will gradually move east across the Bight and into the Tasman Sea over the weekend, while another trough moving in from inland Western Australia is expected to cross western and northern parts of the state on Sunday and into early next week.
Across South Australia, showers are forecast to develop across western districts on Sunday and become more widespread on Monday, particularly in northern parts of the state where locally heavy rainfall is possible.
Elevated river levels continue across inland river systems. Authorities say levels along the Warburton River remain high as upstream floodwaters from the Diamantina River move through the system, while levels along Cooper Creek near Innamincka are slowly rising and further increases are expected as flows arrive from Queensland.
Happy Friday!
