The SA Government’s mandatory reporting scheme requires fuel retailers to update a central database within 30 minutes of changing their price. Each app lets you view current fuel prices at nearby stations and locate them on a map.

On 8 March, RAA said it welcomed the State Government’s plan to extend South Australia’s real-time fuel pricing scheme, along with stronger compliance measures and higher penalties for retailers who fail to update prices.
Since the escalation of the conflict in Iran, usage of the RAA app has surged by 375%.
Premier Peter Malinauskas said, “Thousands of South Australians are already taking advantage of real-time petrol pricing apps to ensure they fill up when fuel is cheapest.
“With the situation in the Middle East escalating, we expect many more to take advantage of this service.
““It’s estimated that shopping around for fuel can save the average motorist around $6.50 a tank – and across the almost 500,000 drivers using price checking apps every month, this equates to more than $58 million in collective savings for South Australian motorists each year.”
