Liar Game TV Anime to Stream on Crunchyroll, Hosts World Premiere at Sakura-Con 2026

REMOW has announced that Crunchyroll will stream the upcoming Liar Game TV anime series worldwide (excluding Japan and China) and will have its world premiere at this year’s Sakura-Con event. It will also stream on AMEDIATEKA in Russia. 

The world premiere Liar Game will take place at the upcoming Sakura-Con 2026 on April 5, 2026. The first two episodes of the series will be screened in the “Ballroom 2” room of the Seattle Convention Center from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM PST. 

The anime is scheduled to begin airing in Japan in April 2026. REMOW announced that it had licensed the series for global streaming last August.

Yuzo Sato (The Gene of AI director) is serving as chief director for the anime series, with Asami Kawano (The Vampire Dies In No Time assistant director) as director, Tatsuhiko Urahata (Baki Hanma) as series composer and screenwriter, Kei Tsuchiya (Trillion Game) as character designer, and Kisuke Koizumi (Trillion Game, My Happy Marriage) as sound director. Madhouse is handling the animation production. 

Meanwhile, the anime’s previously announced voice cast includes: 

  • • Saya Hitomi as Nao Kanzaki
  • • Takeo Otsuka as Shinichi Akiyama
  • • Kazuhiro Nakaya as Leronira
  • • Nobuo Tobita as Kazuo Fujisawa
  • • Yoji Ueda as Mitsuo Tanimura

The suspense manga series by Shinobu Kaitani was serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine from February 17, 2005 to January 22, 2015. A total of 19 tankobon volumes were published in Japan. Another short manga series by Kaitani was launched in February 2026. 

The manga also inspired a Japanese live-action TV drama, a Korean live-action TV drama, a live-action film, and a stage play.

Crunchyroll describes the main premise of Liar Game as: 

When Nao Kanzaki receives a strange letter and a suitcase containing 100 million yen, she learns that she has been selected to participate in the LIAR GAME. In this high-stakes psychological battle, lies, deception, and betrayal reign supreme. Naïve and honest, Nao turns to Shinichi Akiyama, a brilliant former con artist, to survive the twisted game. In a game built on lies, can honesty prevail?
