Adelaide will see a mild and partly cloudy Wednesday as a cool change settles across the city, with temperatures dipping for the next few days before warmer conditions return by the weekend.
For the rest of today, Adelaide is forecast to reach a maximum of 26 degrees under partly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of a shower this morning, followed by a mostly sunny afternoon. Winds will shift from north to northwesterly at 15 to 25 km/h before turning south to southwesterly at 20 to 30 km/h during the morning.
Cooler and cloudier conditions are expected on Thursday, with temperatures ranging between a low of 14 degrees and a top of 23 degrees. Skies will remain mostly cloudy with only a small chance of rain, while southerly winds of 20 to 30 km/h will turn southeasterly later in the afternoon. Sun protection will still be important, with the UV Index again forecast to reach 10.
By Friday, skies will begin to clear with mostly sunny conditions and a maximum of 24 degrees following a cool morning low of 12 degrees. Southeasterly winds of 20 to 30 km/h will continue across the Adelaide area, and the chance of rain drops to zero.
Warmer weather is set to return over the weekend. Saturday will be sunny with temperatures climbing to 29 degrees after an overnight low of 13 degrees. On Sunday, the temperature is expected to reach around 29 degrees again, though a shower or two may develop later in the day.
The warm trend continues into next week, with Monday forecast to reach 29 degrees with a couple of showers possible, while Tuesday is expected to remain warm and mostly sunny with a top of 30 degrees.
Flood warnings remain in place for inland river systems across South Australia. Flooding along lower Cooper Creek near Innamincka is temporarily easing, though renewed rises are expected as upstream floodwaters from Queensland move through the system. Elevated river levels are also continuing along the Warburton River at Poothapootha Waterhole, with further rises possible in the coming weeks as floodwaters from the Diamantina River arrive.
Authorities warn that many roads and river crossings remain affected by flooding, potentially impacting travel and access for remote communities. Residents and travellers are advised to check road conditions before travelling and avoid driving through floodwaters.
Happy Wednesday!
