Adelaide will see a warm and sunny Tuesday before a midweek cool change brings cloudier conditions and a dip in temperatures, with warmer weather expected to return by the weekend.
Today, the city will remain sunny with a maximum temperature of 31 degrees and only a slight chance of rain. Light winds are expected across the Adelaide area, while the UV Index is forecast to reach 10, rated Very High, with sun protection recommended between 9:50am and 5:00pm. Fire danger is rated High in the Mount Lofty Ranges, while the Adelaide metropolitan area has no current rating.
A shift in conditions is expected tomorrow as a cooler change moves through. Temperatures will range from a minimum of 19 degrees to a maximum of 26 degrees under partly cloudy skies. There is a slight chance of a shower late in the morning or afternoon as winds shift from north to northeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h before turning south to southwesterly at 20 to 30 km/h during the day.
Cloudier conditions will follow on Thursday, with temperatures easing further to between 14 degrees and 23 degrees. Winds will remain fresh, turning from southerly at 15 to 20 km/h to southeasterly at 20 to 30 km/h throughout the day, while the chance of rain remains low.
Friday forecast to be partly cloudy and reach a maximum of 24 degrees after a cooler morning low of 12 degrees. Warmer weather will return on Saturday, with sunny skies and temperatures climbing to 29 degrees following an overnight minimum of 14 degrees.
Temperatures will rise further into the weekend, with Sunday forecast to reach 31 degrees with a possible shower, while Monday is expected to remain warm with a top of 30 degrees and the chance of another shower.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, the current weather pattern is being influenced by a high-pressure system east of Tasmania extending a ridge across South Australia. This ridge will move east ahead of a cold front and trough expected to move across western and southern parts of the state on Wednesday, bringing the midweek change. A new high-pressure ridge is expected to settle south of the state later in the week, while a low-pressure trough developing in the far west on Friday may bring unsettled conditions next weekend.
Flood warnings remain in place for inland river systems across South Australia. Flooding along lower Cooper Creek near Innamincka is temporarily easing, though renewed rises are expected as upstream floodwaters from Queensland move through the system. Elevated river levels are also continuing along the Warburton River at Poothapootha Waterhole, with further rises possible in the coming weeks as floodwaters from the Diamantina River arrive.
Authorities warn that many roads and river crossings remain affected by flooding, potentially impacting travel and access for remote communities. Residents and travellers are advised to check road conditions before travelling and avoid driving through floodwaters.
Happy Tuesday!
