The Patriots have been widely linked to a pair of the top wide receivers who are available this offseason, but it appears they’re also doing their homework on some other notable pass-catchers in free agency.

Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs is being “closely watched” by the Patriots ahead of free agency, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Sunday. Doubs is also reportedly generating interest from the 49ers, Commanders, and Titans.

Doubs, who’ll turn 26 in April, has been productive in his first four seasons in the league. The 2022 fourth-round pick has logged at least 600 receiving yards in each of the last three years. His 55 receptions and 724 receiving yards this past season were both team-highs, while his six receiving touchdowns were also tied for the team lead.

In the year prior, Doubs was possibly on-pace for a career year had he not missed multiple games due to friction with the team and a concussion. He had 46 receptions for 601 receiving yards in 13 games in 2024. Doubs also had eight receiving touchdowns in 2023.

While Doubs has never had a season of over 1,000 receiving yards, most free-agent rankings have him as a top-five wide receiver available this offseason. He’s the third-highest-ranked wide receiver and the 20th-highest-ranked player in ESPN’s top 100 free agents list. ESPN NFL reporter Dan Graziano projected that Doubs will get a three-year, $49 million contract in free agency with $30 million guaranteed.

Ahead of the start of Monday’s legal tampering period, the Patriots have also been linked to Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce. Pierce, who is widely perceived as the top wide receiver available in free agency, has been a more explosive wide receiver than Doubs in their four-year careers. Pierce has led the NFL in yards per reception in each of the last two seasons, catching 47 balls for 1,003 yards and six touchdowns in 2025.

The Patriots have also been linked to Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown in the trade market. Multiple reports have indicated that Philadelphia is looking for at least a first-round pick in exchange for the star receiver.

Brown, who’ll turn 29 in June, might be the most decorated receiver to change teams this offseason. The three-time Pro Bowler has recorded at least 1,000 receiving yards in six of his first seven years in the league, including a 1,003-yard season in 2025.

Beyond Doubs, Pierce, and Brown, some of the other notable wide receivers available this offseason include Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans, Seattle’s Rashid Shaheed, and San Francisco’s Jauan Jennings. Stefon Diggs is also on the list after the Patriots reportedly decided that they would release him at the start of the new league year on Wednesday.

New England has $61.6 million cap space as of Sunday morning, per @PatsCap on X.
