A Class X student ended his life in the coal town of Mandamarri in Mancherial district on Sunday reportedly due to exam-related stress.
The deceased was identified as 16-year-old K. Ajay, a class X student of the Singareni High School, Mandamarri and a resident of Angadi Bazar in the town.
Ajay allegedly ended his life by hanging himself to an iron pipe in a shed in front of his house at 6.30 a.m. on Sunday.
Fear of scoring low marks in the ensuing SSC public examinations, slated to begin on March 14, drove him to take the extreme step, police said.
The police found a suicide note purportedly written by the boy which indicated that he was suffering from exam-related stress, sources added.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
