Seven unveils first look at Adrian Portelli backed MY RENO RULES

Seven is going all out with its latest renovation series, tapping into its familiar ‘Rules’ IP and promising the largest giveaway in Australian television history.

With controversial billionaire Adrian Portelli backing the prize pool, new 2026 series My Reno Rules will see two fully renovated homes handed over to lucky families when the competition reaches its grand finale.

Hosted by Dr Chris Brown, who previously fronted Dream Home for the network, the series follows four teams of everyday Australians tasked with transforming two neighbouring rundown properties in a Melbourne suburb.

Across the competition, contestants will race to deliver stunning renovations while competing for major prize money and a shot at securing their own futures, perhaps opening a few doors beyond the building site.

The finished homes will not just crown winners among the contestants. In the live grand final, two Australian families will receive the ultimate surprise when they are told they have won the renovated, fully furnished, landscaped properties.

The judging panel brings together familiar faces and industry expertise, including former The Block judge Neale Whitaker, buyer’s agent Simon Cohen from Dream Home and Luxe Listings Sydney, and interior stylist Julia Green from Greenhouse Interiors.

Seven first revealed plans for the series last year as part of a major partnership with Portelli, who is understood to have pitched the concept to the network after stepping back from his headline grabbing habit of buying multiple properties on Nine’s The Block.

The move also gives Seven another crack at landing a renovation format capable of competing with the long running juggernaut, which returns for its 22nd season in 2026, after previous attempts including Dream Home in 2024 and earlier hit House Rules.

Production has not been without scrutiny, with TV Blackbox’s Rob McKnight exclusively reporting delays and behind the scenes hurdles as the project moved through development late last year.

Produced by Endemol Shine Australia and distributed globally by Banijay Rights, My Reno Rules is positioned as a new format for the network’s entertainment slate.

My Reno Rules is coming soon to Seven and 7plus, with no premiere date announced yet, though it is expected to follow Australian Idol in the network’s schedule.
