The long weekend is almost here, and Adelaide is set to enjoy a stretch of sunny weather over the next few days, before showers are expected to return by the middle of the week.
Today, conditions will remain mostly sunny with a top of 27 degrees and no rainfall forecast. Light winds will become west to southwesterly at 15 to 20 km/h during the early afternoon before shifting southeasterly in the evening. The UV Index is predicted to reach 10, rated Very High, with sun protection recommended between 9:50am and 5:00pm. Fire danger remains Moderate in the Mount Lofty Ranges and No Rating for the Adelaide metropolitan area.
Sunny conditions will continue across the weekend. Tomorrow is forecast to reach 27 degrees following a minimum of 15 degrees, with southeasterly winds of 20 to 30 km/h. Sunday will bring similar conditions, with temperatures ranging from 14 degrees to 27 degrees and light southeasterly winds between 15 and 25 km/h. The chance of rain remains minimal across both days, while the UV Index is expected to stay in the Very High range.
The settled weather will extend into the start of next week, with Monday forecast to reach 27 degrees after a cooler overnight minimum of 13 degrees. Conditions will remain sunny before temperatures climb more noticeably on Tuesday, when Adelaide is expected to reach 32 degrees under clear skies.
A change is likely midweek, with showers forecast to return on Wednesday alongside warmer overnight temperatures. Wednesday is expected to bring a minimum of 21 degrees and a top of 32 degrees, with a shower or two possible during the day. Showers are expected to stick around into Thursday, when temperatures will lower slightly to a maximum of 26 degrees.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, a ridge of high pressure will persist across the southern parts of South Australia throughout the weekend. The ridge is expected to strengthen as another high develops south of the Bight before moving east early next week, ahead of a cold front forecast to move across the state around the middle of the week.
While Adelaide’s weather remains largely settled, flood warnings continue for parts of inland South Australia. Flooding is easing along Cooper Creek at Innamincka, though elevated river levels remain, and further rises are possible as upstream floodwaters from Queensland move through the system. Elevated river levels are also continuing along the Warburton River at Poothapootha Waterhole, with authorities warning that many roads and access tracks remain impacted by flooding.
Residents and travellers in affected regions are advised to check road conditions before travelling and avoid driving through floodwaters.
