Dear Hope for Haiti community,
We’re thrilled to share that Hope for Haiti has received a $900,000 grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation to support our Education program. This funding will help our team expand and operate initiatives, including teacher training and salary subsidies, financial literacy, entrepreneurship, life skills training for students and parents, and public health education.
“At Hope for Haiti, we’ve always believed education is where hope takes root,” said Hope for Haiti CEO Skyler Badenoch. “It’s what unlocks opportunity and makes positive change possible. This funding will help thousands of students, educators, and community members gain the tools they need to learn, grow, and imagine a brighter future.”
In Case You Missed It: Medication Made Accessible
Hope for Haiti’s Infirmary St. Etienne (ISE) is a refuge for patients seeking healthcare in and around Les Cayes. The majority of our team’s work at the ISE is focused on treating noncommunicable diseases, often called NCDs, which are long-lasting, non-infectious, and non-transmissible conditions. Last year alone, our team provided 15,162 patient consultations for asthma, diabetes, and/or hypertension, the most common NCDs we see at the clinic.
One of these patients is 62-year-old Artiste Jean Venel. He sought care a few years ago when he noticed some concerning symptoms and was diagnosed with diabetes and high blood pressure. Since then, Artiste has come to the ISE regularly for his appointments and medication.
“The medications help me a lot in managing both my blood sugar and blood pressure,” said Artiste. “I am very grateful to the people who donate these medications to us. Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart.”
You can help support more patients like Artiste by donating to our Gift-in-Kind fund, which pays for the procurement, shipping, and transportation of medications for our clinic and network of 65 in-country healthcare providers.
