Nad Al Sheba volleyball semi-finals set for Thursday
The semi-final line-up for the Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament volleyball competition is complete after Al Tadawi and M.I.N. Investment both secured progression from Group B.
Thursday’s matches at the Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex will see Group A leaders Al Samawi play Al Tadawi at 9pm, followed by M.I.N. Investment against Yaazar at 11pm.
M.I.N. Investment finished top of Group B on seven points after edging Al Tadawi 3-2 in the final group match. Al Tadawi also ended on seven, in second. Zabeel were third with three points, while Tiger Zabeel finished bottom with one.
M.I.N. Investment took the first set 25-20, but Al Tadawi levelled with 25-18. The Investment side moved ahead again with 25-21 before Al Tadawi forced a decider by taking the fourth 25-16. With top spot in the group still on the line, M.I.N. Investment closed it out 15-11.
In the other Group B fixture, Zabeel beat Tiger Zabeel 3-2 (20-25, 27-25, 25-18, 23-25, 15-9) to round off the preliminary round.
Tug-of-war results across categories
The tournament’s tug-of-war competition also continued at Nad Al Sheba.
In the Government Institutions category, the Ministry of Defence beat Dubai Civil Defence 2-0, while the Air Force defeated Dubai Police 2-0.
In the Community category, AJ Mustafa 1 beat W World Gym and Al Jawareh overcame Transguard in Group A. In Group B, Al Muqatiloon beat Raptor Gym, while Al Mahdawi and Al Harbi defeated IFP Sports Academy.
Group C saw Al Ajban beat Dutco Construction Group and Wasl defeat Avalar. In Group D, Level Up beat Olympia, and Globa handed Mangalore Warriors a third straight defeat.
In the Junior category, A25 Gym beat Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club 2-0, and Sharjah Amiri Sports Club defeated Sharjah Police Science Academy 2-0. In later matches, Sharjah Amiri beat A25 Gym 2-0, while Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club won 2-0 against Sharjah Police Science Academy.
Attention now turns to Thursday’s volleyball semi-finals at Nad Al Sheba, with the tournament entering its final week.
