Anime short film Shiranui, a new title from CoMix Wave Films, has been revealed with an August 21 theatrical release date, a teaser trailer, and a visual.
The anime will follow a 10-year-old boy in 1996, who lives with a drunkard of a father. The Shiranui of the title is a light that can fulfill but one wish, and when the protagonist offers a prayer to this light, his wish slowly turns into a curse.

The creator, director, and writer of Shiranui is Ryo Katanosaka, who directed the 2015 live-action film Tabinoyamabiko. According to the official Shiranui X/Twitter account, the Seian University of Art and Design graduate recently started learning about animation production on their own, and this is Katanosaka’s first commercial animated film.
Taro Umebayashi is composing the music for the anime, while Ichiko Aoba is the theme song artist.
