Pakistani Adventurer Selected for Arctic Expedition Faces Visa Delay

Pakistani adventure athlete Samar Khan is facing a visa challenge just weeks before she is scheduled to participate in the Fjällräven Polar 2026 Arctic Expedition.

Khan shared on social media that she has been unable to secure an appointment at the Swedish Embassy and now has less than three weeks left before the expedition begins. She appealed for help in connecting with embassy officials in order to speed up the visa process.

“I will be the only one representing Pakistan in the Fjällräven Polar Arctic expedition, but I haven’t been able to secure an appointment at the Swedish Embassy. Now I’m left with hardly three weeks,” she said.

Khan was recently selected to take part in the expedition, a 300-kilometer dog-sled journey across the Scandinavian Arctic tundra. The expedition brings together 20 adventurers from different countries who travel through the Arctic while learning survival skills and working in teams.

As part of the challenge, Khan will lead a team of four Alaskan huskies during the sled expedition, while representing Pakistan alongside adventurers from European countries.

Announcing her selection earlier, Khan described the opportunity as a major milestone in her career.

“This is an ultimate challenge and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for any action sports athlete and adventurer,” she said, adding that she is grateful to the organizers for the opportunity to represent Pakistan.

Samar Khan is a Pakistani adventure athlete known for her achievements in extreme sports and mountaineering. She previously became the first woman in the world to cycle across the Biafo Glacier in the Karakoram mountains of Gilgit-Baltistan, and the first Pakistani to cycle on Mount Kilimanjaro’s Uhuru Peak.

Her selection for the Fjällräven Polar expedition marks another milestone in her adventure sports career. However, with the expedition approaching quickly, the outcome now depends on whether her visa issue can be resolved in time.
