BEML’s Palakkad complex has been awarded the State Industrial Safety Award 2025 by the Department of Factories and Boilers, recognising the company’s commitment to workplace safety and strict adherence to industrial safety standards. This is the second time BEML has received the award.
The Palakkad facility won in the ‘very large factories’ category (over 500 employees) and the ‘engineering and automobile’ sub-category, highlighting its leadership in implementing robust safety systems in large-scale, high-precision industrial environments.
Education Minister V. Sivankutty gave away the award at a function held in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday.
BEML’s Palakkad complex is a defence manufacturing hub, comprising five major hangars, supported by a machine shop and dedicated shot-blasting and painting facilities.
The facility produces BEML high-mobility vehicle (HMV) variants ranging from 12×12 to 4×4, along with ground support vehicles for guided missile programmes, heavy, medium and light recovery vehicles, and 50-tonne trailers for tank transportation.
