Finance Minister Pledges Stronger Economic Ties With the Netherlands

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening economic ties with the Netherlands during a meeting with Robert Jan Siegert in Islamabad on March 4.

The discussion also included representatives from Engro Corporation and Engro Vopak Terminal Limited, who briefed the finance minister on the operations of the terminal at Port Qasim.

Officials said the terminal, operating since 1996, plays an important role in Pakistan’s industrial and energy supply chains by handling chemical imports for downstream industries and managing a significant share of marine LPG used for household energy needs.

Aurangzeb said long-standing partnerships with international investors help strengthen Pakistan’s economic development, boost trade and improve confidence among global businesses.

The government, he said, remains committed to providing a transparent and supportive environment for foreign investment.

During the meeting, participants also discussed the evolving regional situation and its possible impact on global energy markets and supply chains. The finance minister noted that the government is closely monitoring developments to ensure stable petroleum supplies while engaging with stakeholders to manage potential disruptions.
