Pakistan vs Bangladesh ODI Series Faces Uncertainty

Pakistan’s upcoming tour of Bangladesh for a three-match ODI series is facing uncertainty due to ongoing regional tensions.

The national team is scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on March 9, with all three matches set to be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on March 11, 13, and 15.

However, insiders say the tour will only move forward if the current situation does not escalate travel risks or create security concerns. Officials are closely monitoring developments before making a final decision.

At the same time, discussions regarding Pakistan’s squad are expected to begin this week as the team shifts its focus toward the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.

According to sources, the selection committee is likely to make significant changes to the squad. Young players are expected to receive opportunities, potentially replacing underperforming regulars such as Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Mohammad Nawaz.

Since Pakistan does not have an immediate T20I assignment, no immediate changes are expected in the shortest format. However, sources added that five to six players could be phased out ahead of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

For context, Pakistan last played an ODI series in November when they hosted Sri Lanka and completed a 3-0 sweep.

That series marked Shaheen Shah Afridi’s second assignment as ODI captain. His first series in charge was a three-match home contest against South Africa, which Pakistan won 2-1.
