On Monday, March 16, at 7 p.m., Glencairn Museum welcomes the Curtis Institute of Music’s Chamber Orchestra for a special performance celebrating the historic ties between the two institutions. The conductor-less ensemble, drawn from the school’s extraordinary students, will perform in Glencairn’s Great Hall, where architecture and acoustics together create an atmosphere of reflection and resonance.
This concert is presented as part of Curtis on Tour, the Nina von Maltzahn global touring initiative of the Curtis Institute of Music.
The orchestra will be led from the first chair by violinist Erin Keefe, concertmaster of the Minnesota Orchestra and a member of the Curtis violin faculty. She is joined by Curtis President and violist Roberto Díaz.
Timeless Masterpieces
The evening’s program (subject to change) features Mozart’s masterful Sinfonia Concertante in E-flat major, K. 364, performed by Ms. Keefe and Mr. Díaz.
A Historic Partnership
For generations, Curtis musicians have been woven into Glencairn’s story. Raymond and Mildred Pitcairn formed close relationships with members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Curtis faculty, establishing a legacy of artistic exchange that continues today. Their son, Lachlan Pitcairn, carried that tradition forward through decades of thoughtfully curated performance, helping ensure that Glencairn remained not only a museum but also a vibrant space for live music.
From the beloved Glencairn Christmas Sing Concert to intimate chamber performances, music has long animated the Great Hall. This concert continues that tradition, welcoming world-class artistry into a space designed to elevate both sound and spirit.
Join us for an unforgettable evening celebrating extraordinary music, history, and artistic excellence.
