The Punjab Health Department has placed all government hospitals across Punjab on high alert amid an emergency.
According to an official directive, the department has instructed all District Health Authorities and hospitals to keep emergency wards fully operational 24 hours a day.
District Headquarters (DHQ) and Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) hospitals have also been ordered to keep operation theatres and radiology departments functional round the clock to handle any medical emergencies.
The department directed hospitals to ensure the availability of specialist doctors, including physicians, surgeons, and orthopedic surgeons, along with nurses, paramedics, and allied staff.
Hospitals have also been instructed to maintain sufficient stocks of medicines, IV fluids, and surgical supplies. Authorities further ordered hospitals to keep trauma and surgical emergency arrangements ready and maintain close coordination with the district administration and Rescue 1122.
The health department emphasized strict implementation of shift-wise duty rosters for hospital staff to ensure uninterrupted emergency medical services across the province.
