Reigning conference champions Westfield State claim the number one seed in the 2026 MASCAC Men’s Basketball Tournament which kicks off on Tuesday with the quarterfinal round of games.
Starting on Tuesday, February 24 is the quarterfinal round with #4 Framingham State facing #5 Bridgewater State at 6 pm while #3 Salem State hosts #6 MCLA at 7. The two quarterfinal winners will then meet on Thursday, February 26 with #1 Westfield State hosting the lowest remaining seed at 7 pm while #2 Worcester State gets the other remaining seed at 6.
Meeting on Saturday, February 28 for the MASCAC Tournament crown, the two semifinal winners will not only decide the champion but the team that gets an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
Landing in the first spot for the second straight year, the Owls went 12-2 during conference play. Reigning Player and Rookie of the Year Kenney Rogers Jr., followed his freshman year with a solid sophomore performance, averaging 19.9 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists per game, all in the top 5 of the MASCAC. He also added 42 steals and 11 blocks on the year.
Worcester State earned the other first round bye as the two seed with an 11-3 mark. In his first season with the Lancers, Joe Okla averaged 15.2 points and 9.1 rebounds while shooting 59.1 percent from the field and 69.2 percent from the free throw line with 45 assists and 38 steals.
Getting the chance to host first round action, Salem State is the third seed after an 8-6 MASCAC record. For the Vikings, Ali Barry tallied 15.1 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while draining 78.9 percent of his free throws. He also collected 60 assists, 53 steals and 21 blocks this season.
Framingham State grabs the final hosting duties with the fourth seed. The Rams came in at a 7-7 clip during league action and look to Joshua Saint Jean during their tournament run after he averaged 13.1 points and 9.1 rebounds while shooting 54.4 percent from the floor with 30 blocks, 19 assists and 15 steals.
Sitting in the final two tournament spots are Bridgewater State and MCLA in the fifth and sixth, respectively. For the Bears, Dante Kikuba averaged 12.9 points, 5.4 assists and 4.5 rebounds while making 76 percent of his shots from the free throw line plus 51 steals on the season. For the Trailblazers, Craig Williams was their leading scorer, averaging 19.5 points per game with 5.3 rebounds per contest, a 78.9 percent free throw mark, 58 assists, 31 steals and five blocks.
During the 2025 tournament title game, #1 Westfield State bested #2 Salem State 93-63 to win their third MASCAC title in five season and earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament.
