Parade Organizers Will Introduce a Family-Friendly Zone for St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The St. Patrick’s Day/Evacuation Day Parade has long been one of the year’s biggest (and oftentimes unruly and insane)  neighborhood gatherings, and that’s part of why a new family-friendly zone is in the works.

According to MassLive, parade organizers will add a dedicated family viewing area at Medal of Honor Park, complete with a touch-a-truck, along with other programs to make it a more “welcoming environment” for children, seniors, and families.

Back in 2024 and 2025, there were several violent assaults, public drinking and fighting, and on parade day, a task force was created by City Councilor Ed Flynn, Senator Nick Collins, and other elected and public safety officials and parade organizers to make the parade safer and more family-friendly, in addition to quality of life issues in the neighborhood.

Here is our recap from the 2024 parade, and you can read about the trouble at the 2025 parade here.

More details about the family-friendly zone are expected as the March 15 parade approaches, along with additional public safety information for parade day.

Also, in case you missed the news, the parade will reverse direction this year – get the details.
