Nad Al Sheba hosts Presidential Guard race

More than 1,300 runners turned out for the Presidential Guard Running Race at Nad Al Sheba, in an event organised by the Presidential Guard Command with the support of the Dubai Sports Council.

The race followed an “Elite Challenge” format and offered four distances: 10km, 5km, 3km and 1km. Categories were split between open and UAE divisions, with further age group races over the shorter distances.

Saeed Hareb, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council, and Brigadier Staff Yaqoub Yousuf bin Umair Al Ali, Deputy Commander of the Presidential Guard, presented the medals after the races.

The event was held alongside the opening of recruitment applications for Emirati citizens seeking to join the Presidential Guard, with exemption from national service.

10km results

In the open women’s race, Gloria Chebet won in 37 minutes 58 seconds. Phidilia Masanju was second in 41:30, with Ann Wanjohi third in 43:47.

Yassir Ech Chaachoui claimed the open men’s title in 29:15. Noaman El Assaoui followed in 29:52 and Mohammed Ait Mmamas Ttouda finished third in 30:59.

Hessa Alali led the UAE women’s 10km in 54:02. Nouf Alhajeri took second in 1:06:31 and Hessa Alsuwaidi placed third in 1:18:32.

Ammar Al Ali won the UAE men’s 10km in 35:20, ahead of Mayed Ahmad (36:48) and Abdulla Almheiri (37:03).

5km results

Mueni Mutuku won the open women’s 5km in 18:21. Bakhitta Shikoli and Mercy Kimani shared second and third, both clocking 20:48.

Amine Souida topped the open men’s race in 14:41. Abdelali Bouazzaoui ran 15:07 for second, while Abdessamad El Habbaz finished in 15:42.

Latifa Al Janahi led the UAE women in 20:20. Sara Salman Kahwar followed in 23:27 and Noura Al Khalaf in 25:24.

Abdulla Al Hadhrami won the UAE men’s 5km in 16:38. Ali Ghulam Ramdan (17:23) and Ali Sadiq (18:16) completed the podium.

3km and 1km

Abdalla Almansoori won the men’s 3km in 11:48, narrowly ahead of Obaid Alkait (11:53). Faris Saeed finished third in 12:41.

Shouq Ahmed Albalooshi took the women’s 3km in 14:37. Maitha Al Bannai ran 19:07 for second and Malak Shiran finished in 22:08.

In the 1km races, Humaid Al Hammadi won the boys’ category in 3:24. Malallah Alshehhi (3:46) and Khalid Alhasai (3:50) followed.

Ayesha Bint Mohammad Bashir Muhammad Bashir claimed the girls’ 1km in 4:23. Manal Tonshe (4:30) and Ebteasm Alshehhi (4:47) rounded out the top three.

Organisers said the race reflected the armed forces’ values of discipline and readiness, with sport used as a way to bring the wider community together at Nad Al Sheba.
