NICOLE KIDMAN leads SCARPETTA in gripping Prime Video crime thriller

Prime Video has unveiled the official trailer and premiere date for its latest series Scarpetta, with Hollywood’s busiest woman Nicole Kidman leading the adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s bestselling crime novels.

Based on Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta book series, which has sold more than 120 million copies worldwide since debuting in 1990, the forensic thriller has been developed and written for television by Emmy nominated writer and showrunner Liz Sarnoff.

The drama unfolds across two timelines, tracing Scarpetta’s early years as Chief Medical Examiner in the late 1990s and her present day return to her hometown, where she resumes her former role while investigating a grisly murder that forces her to confront a career defining case from nearly three decades earlier.

Kidman, one of Australia’s most successful screen exports, stars as Dr Kay Scarpetta, a relentless medical examiner determined to serve as the voice of the victims while unmasking a serial killer whose crimes cut close to home.

Jamie Lee Curtis stars alongside Kidman as her sister Dorothy Farinelli, with their fractured relationship placed at the heart of tangled family dynamics and professional tensions.

The ensemble cast also features Bobby Cannavale as Detective Pete Marino, Simon Baker as FBI profiler Benton Wesley and Ariana DeBose as Lucy Farinelli Watson, as the investigation draws in both law enforcement and family loyalties.

Rosy McEwen portrays the younger version of Kidman’s Scarpetta, with Amanda Righetti, Jake Cannavale and Hunter Parrish playing the younger counterparts to Curtis, Cannavale and Baker’s characters.

Beyond the crime scene, the story also examines the psychological toll of pursuing justice at any cost, adding another layer to the high stakes mystery.

David Gordon Green directs five episodes and serves as executive producer, joining Kidman and Per Saari for Blossom Films, Curtis for Comet Pictures, Sarnoff, Patricia Cornwell and Jason Blum among the producing team.
