T20 World Cup 2026: Political leaders praise Team India’s emphatic win vs Pakistan

India’s emphatic victory over Pakistan in the T20 World Cup sparked a wave of celebrations across the political spectrum, with leaders praising the Men in Blue for delivering yet another statement win in cricket’s biggest rivalry.

India posted 175/7 and bowled Pakistan out for 114 in 18 overs at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, sealing a dominant 61-run win. Ishan Kishan’s attacking 77 and a clinical bowling show ensured the match never slipped out of India’s grasp.

As the result became clear, congratulatory messages poured in.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah underlined India’s consistent supremacy in the fixture. “Well played Team India. Formats, places, and dates may change, but the result of India vs Pakistan remains consistent. Congratulations to the entire team,” he said.

Several leaders highlighted the scale of the moment for the country. Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar described the triumph as the pride of a billion hearts, applauding the disciplined bowling and sharp fielding that set the tone for the night. “Wishing our Men in Blue continued momentum and great success in the matches ahead,” he added.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma echoed a similar sentiment, remarking that different years and tournaments keep producing the same result, and urged the side to go all the way to the title.

With the match coinciding with Maha Shivaratri, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan linked the victory to the festive occasion, calling it a moment of national pride and extending greetings to citizens and the team.

Praise also centred on the standout performers. Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and BJP chief Nitin Nabin singled out Ishan Kishan for rising to the occasion with a special knock under pressure.

Scindia wrote, “Another fabulous win for the Men in Blue, our champions! Ishan Kishan rose to the occasion with a truly special knock in a high-pressure clash, and the bowling unit backed it up with complete control. One step closer to defending the crown and creating history yet again.”

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan congratulated the entire unit — players, coaches and support staff — for enhancing the nation’s honour at the global event.

Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad summed up the mood succinctly, asserting that whichever the ground, victory would belong to India.
