Mia McKenna Bruce leads new UK royal drama series THE LADY

A palace posting, a society romance and a murder conviction that shocked Britain are set to unfold in new UK drama series The Lady.

With the series set to land on BINGE later this month and the first trailer now released, the four-part drama will bring the extraordinary true story of former royal aide Jane Andrews to Australian screens.

BAFTA-winning actress Mia McKenna Bruce leads the cast as Andrews, the young working-class woman who answered an advertisement in The Lady magazine and secured a role as dresser to Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York.

Natalie Dormer takes on the role of the Duchess, positioned at the centre of Jane’s rapid ascent into palace life, while Ed Speleers portrays businessman Thomas Cressman, whose passionate relationship with Jane would end in his death and her eventual murder conviction.

Based on real events and partly fictionalised for television, the series traces Andrews’ rise through Britain’s upper classes before her dismissal after nine years of service and a romance that spiralled into one of the country’s most notorious criminal cases.

Produced by Left Bank Pictures, a Sony Pictures Television company behind The Crown, the drama is written and executive produced by Debbie O’Malley, directed by Lee Haven Jones and produced by Florence Haddon-Cave, with ITV commissioning in the UK.

The Lady premieres with a double episode drop on 23 February on BINGE and Foxtel On Demand, with remaining episodes rolling out the following week and weekly broadcasts on Showcase.
