Isha Ambani Piramal chose custom Anamika Khanna in a shade that sits somewhere between antique ivory and pale gold. Up close, the surface is dense with handwork: raised florals, lattice inserts, scattered pearls and thread embroidery layered so tightly that the fabric appears sculpted rather than sewn. The bodice narrows through the waist before opening gently at the hem, allowing the detailing to travel uninterrupted from shoulder to floor.
Stylist Anaita Shroff Adajania adds a long satin coat, slightly off the shoulders, with its clean lapels cutting through the embroidery beneath. The inner lining reveals a muted floral print as it moves, a small moment of colour against the otherwise monochrome base.
Then come the emeralds. Multiple strands of graduated beads fall deep, cutting through the intricate ivory base that’s soft in tone. Mike Desir pulls the hair back, letting the earrings shine. Tanvi Chemburkar creates a luminous base for a natural makeup look with a nude lip, full brows and warm blush that matches the wash of colour on the lids.
From Vogue’s fashion desk:
“When you want the jewellery to lead, Isha Ambani Piramal and Anaita Shroff Adajania offer a clear lesson with this Anamika Khanna look. A muted nude-gold base sets up a strong contrast for the emerald beads. The outfit needn’t be boring, and the detail can lie in tone-on-tone embroidery, which adds depth, instead of, say, a singular slip dress. The richness of the look also comes from how it’s paired; a skirt set layered with a trench,” says Vogue India fashion associate Divya Balakrishnan.
