The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet has approved a Ramadan Relief Package to provide financial assistance to low-income families across the province, following directions from Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Afridi.
The decision was taken during the cabinet’s 47th meeting. Under the package, 1.063 million families will receive cash assistance at an average of Rs. 12,500 per family during the month of Ramadan.
A spokesperson for the provincial finance and economy department said the government had introduced a Ramadan relief package for the first time in 2024, when eligible families received Rs. 10,000 each.
He added that the amount has been increased this year in response to rising inflation, particularly higher prices of sugar and wheat flour.
According to the spokesperson, the chief minister approved a 25 percent increase in the assistance amount to provide greater support to families during Ramadan.
