With live bands, vinyl DJs and disco balls – Mimmo will be serving up good tunes, good moods, and classic Italian cocktails in their downtown-esque new venue, all fringe-season long.
Brought to you by long-time friends and associates, General Manager Dan Vaughan (Pastel Wine Bar and 1000 Island) and Alessio Trolio, Mimmo returns for its third year, with more “attention to style, sound and the essence of the Fringe” than ever, Vaughan tells.
This temporary space, formally home to Distill Bar, utilises carefully considered colours and textures to create a warm yet effervescent atmosphere that, at its core, encapsulates the lively buzz of Adelaide’s much-loved Fringe season. Vaughan aims to create a “Fringe Activation Hub”, where everyone from Fringe artists to fringe-goers, and all others in between, can get in on the action, just steps away from the much-loved madness of the Garden and Gluttony.
Mimmo’s menu will focus on local, seasonal ingredients, which, lucky for us, means they’ll be serving up icy, fruit-juice-based cocktails (made from seasonal, local fruits), to cool off for those warm February and March nights. Look out for their signature Passionfruit Sgroppino – a traditional Italian Cocktail blending together local passionfruit sorbetto, Prosecco and liquor- if you want a sweet and exciting drink that doubles as a dessert.
Dan and Alessio are dedicated to supporting the wonderful community that brings the Fringe together. With their experience working at some of Adelaide’s most ambient and lively venues, this space will allow Fringe goers, performers and employees to come for pre-drinks, knockoffs or a real good boogie (thanks to the discoballs and records that’ll be spinning all night long). When chatting to the boys, they teased some exciting happy hour deals and other discounts for the Fringe Community, to make their new space a real hub for all those involved with one of SA’s most exciting events.
Whilst level one is set to open on February 12th, Vaughan revealed to Glam Adelaide that preparations are underway for an exciting second level, expected to open just 8 days later, on February 20th.
You can expect an exciting integrated space where Fringe workers and fringe-goers alike can soak up the magic of Rundle Street this time of year on level one, whilst level two could see Pop-up shows and fringe artists making the most of this exciting new space.
