Showcase Cinema de Lux in Randolph, which sports an IMAX and an immersive MX4D theater, is closing its doors at the beginning of next month.
In a statement on the company’s website, it said, “It has been our pleasure to serve the Randolph community.”
The last full day of cinema operations at the standalone facility on Mazzeo Drive will be on Sunday, March 1, the statement said.
“We truly thank you for your dedicated patronage and hope to welcome you to one of our nearby locations,” it continued.
The movie theater is owned and operated by National Amusements. According to assessor records, National Amusement first purchased the property for $4 million in June of 1997 and later constructed the movie theater.
Headquartered in Norwood, the Redstone family ran National Amusements for 90 years.
The company’s parent, National Amusements Inc., was acquired by Paramount Skydance in 2025 in a $2.4 billion deal.
The closure comes soon after the Showcase Cinema at Patriot Place closed. Phoenix Theaters is renovating that 25-year-old movie theater as part of a multi-million-dollar investment.
The company said it expects its movie theater to open this summer.
The closure of the Randolph Cinema de Lux leaves only seven other locations in the state, with four in New York, one in Rhode Island, and one in Ohio.
It remains unclear what will happen to the property. Boston.com did not hear back from Paramount Skydance for comment.
