Looking ahead at the Patriots’ offseason: With the 29-13 defeat in Super Bowl LX against the Seahawks, the Patriots head into the offseason on a decidedly sour note.

Yet just as the majority of the 2025 season was one built on optimism, the same narrative will likely hold true in the coming months. Setting aside the Super Bowl disappointment, New England remains in an advantageous position in terms of its roster and the potential to improve.

Featuring a core of talented younger players, the Patriots also possess a large crop of 2026 draft picks, and a manageable list of pending free agents. In all, the Patriots are projected to have over $42 million in cap space, according to Over The Cap.

First, here’s the complete list of players who could potentially become free agents:

  • Austin Hooper, TE
  • K’Lavon Chaisson, LB
  • Khyiris Tonga, DT
  • Jaylinn Hawkins, S
  • Jack Gibbens, LB
  • Vederian Lowe, T

Beyond free agency, New England will also have ample opportunity to improve the team via the draft.

  • Round 2, Pick 63
  • Round 3, Pick 95

The NFL Scouting Combine for rookies will begin on Feb. 23 in Indianapolis as usual, running through March 2.

After that, the league’s offseason begins in earnest. The 2026 NFL “League Year” as well as the free agency signing period will begin at 4 p.m. ET on March 11. The draft, which will be held in Pittsburgh, will then take place from April 23-25.
